HarBUG are running a Cycle to Work day on Wednesday 2nd April.
If you have not been cycling during this (very) long & wet Winter then this is an ideal opportunity to get back into the saddle.
If you have been thinking about trying to cycle to work then we will be running accompanied rides from the local towns to help you make a start.
To join in on the accompanied rides (at your pace) then just turn up and look out for a HarBUG fluorescent jacket:
- Didcot Parkway: depart 07:15 or 07:55 (the later ride connects with Oxford and Reading trains).
- Grove, Millbrook Square: depart 07:30
- Wantage, Nelson Pub: depart 07:45
- Abingdon, Old County Hall: depart 07:40
We need ride leaders for the Didcot, Abingdon, Wantage and Grove rides. So if you would like to help out please contact chairman@harbug.org.uk.
Please join in with the accompanied rides, it gives new riders a sense that they are not alone and is a good chance to meet with other cyclists from the same town. The rides may be at a slower pace to what you are used to and may not be at the same time you normally travel but please make the effort. Thanks.
A cyclist’s breakfast will be served at the Harwell pavilion at the Thomson Avenue entrance from 07:30 to 09:00. The breakfast is free to all cycling in on that day.
One more thing, please could you display the attached poster on your organisations notice boards and if you have a intranet notice board, please contact me and I can send some ‘words’ about the cycle to work day.
