Hi Mike,
The bike shop in Wantage, Ridgeway Cycles, have a weekly MTB ride at 1830 from the shop.
Didcot Phoenix CC have also been dabbling in midweek gravel rides recently. Check their socials for details.
Happy trails!
PeterCowanMemberAbsolutely not!
But I don’t know if, as cyclists, we’re in a position to complain as according to Ordnance Survey and Oxons own PROW interactive map (path 243/17/10), that’s still designated as a Footpath only.
So, if and when you report it. You were walking… 😉
PeterCowanMemberWhat are the proposals for that roundabout? They have not long re-surfaced it.
Fingers crossed for the rider.
PeterCowanMemberOh, so this new route/crossing is totally independent of Sustrans and not the 544 at all?
I had made that assumption.
PeterCowanMemberI revise my opening remarks, looks like the admins were putting together an announcement at the same time: https://harbug.org.uk/?p=4989
Good news.

They are probably angry because bicycles are awesome and they weren’t on one.
PeterCowanMemberIn answer to your final sentence – It’s in the state it’s been in for a few weeks now. Just the vegetation cleared for now.
PeterCowanMemberI know the guy. Bearing in mind that he was KO’ed, he doesn’t remember what happened – but he believes he just lost the front wheel on the roundabout when leaving site.
He’s pretty banged up, his head taking the brunt of it unfortunatley.
PeterCowanMemberDon’t hold your breath re:bury lane to Harwell cycle path. Far too sensible.
Indeed, don’t hold your breath for the ‘Didcot to Newbury Rail Trail’ I keep saying i’m going to raise funds for and organise…Anyway. There is a new-ish option that is passable on a road bike with sturdy tyres. Since Dyson took over the land on Compton Downs they resurfaced the byway from just east of East Ilsley over to Churn Farm/ Blewbury. The very bottom end is left as a track to dissuade cars from using it, but the rest is a tarmac base with some gravel on top. From there, unfortunately, you’re left to battle the A417 to site.
PeterCowanMemberSteve,
I spotted someone selling a pair of Marathon Plus Tours on the Cycling UK Wantage facebook group. (£30).
They are the knobblier end of the Marathons.
