Anyone riding from the magical land of Swindonia on Wednesday 13th June?
numb-bumMemberanyone cycling from Swindon on the day?
numb-bumMemberIs anyone experience more punctures recently? my puncture resistant conti’s are proving to be very robust.
Tues 26th April i had a flint related flat heading to work, then on the morning of Wed 27th just as i rolled out of home i discovered a flint related puncture in the front wheel, that delayed me quite a bit heading to work.
On the way back home it started snowing heavily at around 20:00, and when i was on the potholed East Ginge track, which was quite muddy by this point. When going over a small pot hole i lost control and decked it pretty bad.
Turns out my back tyre was flat, which contributed to the loss of control. A massive flint was embedded in the tyre. I had the lovely experience of replacing the tube while freezing my t**s off, and in a bit a pain. Plus my gps cycle computer is now broken.
Any chance I could get the OCC email address so I could write them a nice letter? I’ve also got pretty pictures I’d like to send them.
numb-bumMemberI’ve had 31 commuting rides since 7 Feb 2016, not a single puncture since they crunched the flint surface.
These are the tyres that I use:

numb-bumMemberI just manually dip (tilt by hand) the lights when there’s an oncoming bike/pedestrian/car/badger. At night I always use lowest intensity in town .
Bright lights are also for being seen during daylight hours (flashing mode), especially if you are overtaking during rush hour. Also i find the amount of reflective material put on high-end cycling apparel to be comical, more decorative than functional.

numb-bumMemberbeen cycling on it this week with no punctures, fingers crossed..
Cheers Lewy for reporting the felled tree to OCC
numb-bumMemberDue to the new surface at ‘tank farm towards Wantage’ I’ve had a puncture last night in the front tyre, and last thursday night inthe rear tyre. Thin pink flints (like baby shark teeth) cut through my new conti travel contacts like a hot knife through butter.
After the 2nd puncture I went over both tyres and found several flints embedded.
Fixing a puncture in the pitch dark and wind was also great fun, glad it wasn’t freezing

numb-bumMembergood news indeed!
Does anyone know a decent alternative route? I took a right just before the road works, it was very muddy, not suitable for skinny tyres.
Cheers
numb-bumMemberThe reason I started cycling to work this past year (even throughout winter) was thanks to the Cycle to Work day . I use a hybrid with road tyres and manage (Wantage 544).
As long as the pace is slow at the rough bits the Cycle to Work event shouldn’t be a problem. Rather than cancelling it could it be postponed til after the roadworks?
