Recently aquired a cyclocross bike for commuting via Route 5/N44, plus the occasional excursion along the ridgeway. The tyres are appaling, puncturing almost every other ride. Any suggestions for a decent 700 x 35 tyre suitable for the above use?
I’d recommend the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres. They are certainly available in 700 x 35.
The two linked below have different type of treads.
I’ve been using them on my hybrid bike for over a year now with no punctures and rated them so highly that I use the Durano Plus equivalent on my road bike.
I use continental travel contact 700/35c on my cyclocross bike. they great still roll as well as the schewalbe’s however the nobbly sides are good for cornering in mud etc. Used them for almost 2 years of commuting from didcot via the winnaway (very rough) and done a fair few ridgeway rides on them. they have been faultless!
Thanks for the advice. I have decided to go for the Continentals. On balance I think they are a bit more versatile than the Schwalbe, they also have an impressively high TPI and a decent price.
I second that. I am using the Marathon Plus Tour myself for almost two years and they have been punctured only once by broken glass shards about 1 cm long in Didcot.
