Magnox Ltd, operators of the Harwell nuclear licenced site, are consulting about the restoration of the Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant (LETP), commonly known as Tank Farm.
The restoration will return the land to a field. During the restoration Sustrans route 544 (Icknield Way) will be diverted via the Campus.
There is an exhibition on Monday 2nd November at the Harwell Innovation Centre. Please see consultation document for further details: Magnox LETP Consultation
The HarBUG response to the consultation will be:
- To ensure that the restored Sustrans route 544 carries on straight from the end of the existing (and upgraded) path, bypassing the substation to connect the other side.
- There is currently a cycle access path on the western end of Tank Farm, this will be lost in the restoration (see photo below). We would like the track across the field, which will be used for the diversion, to be upgraded as the permanent cycle entrance to the Campus from the Wantage direction.
- We would like the restored route 544 and proposed new cycle entrance path to be of the same width and standard as the newly upgraded path, west of the Campus.
