I just thought I would post to see if anyone has had any near misses on the roads recently with the increase of heavy vehicles coming to site?
I had a very close call a couple of weeks ago when a Hanson concrete lorry passed me at speed with only a couple of feet to spare (I could have touched it as it passed quite easily). This was on the road between Rowstock and site, they were delivering to one of the new buildings.
I’ve got a cheap camera on the bike so sent a still to Hanson who eventually replied after prompting. They interviewed the driver who of cause said he was not aware of this incident etc. And that as they have an immaculate record for road safety etc etc … that they hope it can be put to rest.

Another cement mixer incident a few days ago; very close pass (with oncoming HGV) on the main road nr. the Harwell Rec Soc ground. I didn’t notice any company name, but reg: WU51 P– . The vehicle turned onto site, but after that I don’t know.

Not so much a near miss; but I’ve noticed a few times, that some of the contractors are coming out of the ESA building site and turning left in the evening. Nipping along Frome Road the wrong way, to save themselves a few minutes.
