      Hi,

I’m looking into fitting a GPS tracker on my bike. I would like a device that provides you a real-time location (i.e. via GSM) and easy to hide without affecting the GPS/comms. antennas too much. I don’t want a tag like the Apple/Samsung ones, as they rely on people with these brands of phones nearby, but a device that uses the phone network.

I’ve seen the following ones on internet:

      – BikeFinder Tracker System (housed inside the handlebar).

      – Trackting Bike T9 (housed inside the fork).

I’ve seen reviews of both but haven’t been convinced of purchasing any of them for the following reasons:

      – The BikeFinder sticks out slightly (or more than slightly) from the tube as it needs the antennas to be outside the metallic tube, so it’s easy to spot (by thieves).

      – The Trackting one seems to struggle to update the location, probably because it’s facing the ground instead of the sky, so doesn’t get a good GPS reception.

The first one has got good reviews but the second one has a lot of complains regarding the location updates and the customer service (and it’s sold only in the EU). You have to pay a subscription for both (which I don’t mind) and the first one is more expensive to buy.

Does anybody have other suggestions or any experience with bike trackers?

I thought about pets trackers as well but, as you need to hide them inside one of the tubes, they might not work either. Probably inside a discrete enclosure underneath the saddle?

      Thanks,
      Alex
