On Wednesday 10th July HarBUG carried out a cycle survey. View a copy in the post.

Unfortunately the survey doesn’t seem to be in a form I can read. Can it be in Word or pdf?
Good report – very clear.
One observation is that it seems odd to me that there although four routes were surveyed, the route which actually had marginally greater use than any of the others (the A4185) is the only route for which HarBUG has no identified priority project for infrastructure.
I scouted during the long weekend the Winnnaway and the track going from the George and the Dragon to Chilton and they felt more heavily damaged and difficult compared to following route 544 all the way through Hagbourne farm. Racing bikes cannot use any of the routes without risk of damage.
About A4185 it may be worthy to get the footpath extended adding a cycling lane. At its current state I personally consider it too dangerous to be used for commuting during rush hours especially during winter/night.
I have tried to get to the cycle survey but keep ending up in a zip file I can’t use. Any chance of a pdf version?
In the meantime, I agree that it seems a bit daft not to have any plan to upgrade the infrastructure between the Rowstock roundabout and the campus. It would also be good to open up a route between the campus and West Isley. I know one or two people who brave the A34 to get down to the next junction, and hence onto the downs, but a proper cycle path on the campus side of the A34 would be a better long term solution.
