I just was curious to know what happened about a collision with the cyclist, I think last week or the week before one Monday evening on the Rowstock to campus A415 Newbury road, just outside the big house.

The cyclist was grazed and bruised but luckily not badly hurt. I stopped and went over and offered him a lift, as a I have a bike rack on top mf my car but he was okay.

An ambulance was called. Another cyclist had a helmet cam (good idea, will save up for one of those myself).

I do not know how the accident happened, as although I sore the guy take a spin, I missed the point of impact as I was several cars back. The woman’s front windscreen was smashed in, the cyclist was amazed. He asked “did I really do that”! I still cannot figure out how she hit the cyclist and ended up on the wrong side of the road. The cyclist was heading up towards RAL but both he and the driver, who was also heading this way were on my side of the road heading towards Rowstock.

I just was curious as to what happened and if the other cyclist managed to recover any footage from the camera.

I do not commute to work by bike any more as I do not have time, being busy with other things but do go out a lot on the bike at weekends and always want to stay safe, which is one reason for asking. Resent posts on here made me think to ask.

I’ve spoken to the cyclist with the helmet cam and he said that the cyclist that was hit was riding up the pavement and then moved into the road to cross over without having seen the car approaching. The driver of the car didn’t have time to stop even though they were under the speed limit. The cyclist should have had a better look before he crossed and was lucky the driver wasn’t going faster.
